Open Letter to South Florida Pastors Regarding Our Primary Election

 Dear Pastor,                                         July 29, 2026

Your dynamic series on Moses has stirred a renewal of obedience in my life and others. “Quit arguing with God and just do it.” Hence this letter.

Thank you for your rousing July 4th service as well. You eloquently laid out the history of leaders who fought and rallied for freedom against tyranny. (The patriotic medley was amazing).

During the Revolution, we know that the clergy were outspoken in defending freedom. Among them were pastors John Witherspoon, who even signed the Declaration of Independence, James Caldwell and Peter Muhlenberg.

Today, we find the rise of socialism/communism and the oppressive Sharia Law in New York, Minnesota, Texas and Colorado. It’s not difficult to count the number of anti-American politicians in office.

Perhaps it is time for pastors to follow suit with the Revolutionary reverends to use their pulpits to promote patriotism; to not shy away from challenging their congregants to vote, especially in this August 18th primary.

The Christian Coalition is a good guide for voting in alignment with scripture. I’m sure you are aware of others.

If individuals, especially the members of the Body of Christ, do not elect godly officials, we will certainly lose our dearly held freedoms of religion, peaceable assembly and speech.

I have written to my representatives. I now appeal to my pastor, for it is high  time to use every platform possible to speak for freedom, no matter the consequence.

Perhaps once again, as in ancient Egypt, God is raising up Moseses to lead the country away from bondage.

Finally awake out of my Netflix stupor,

Respectfully,

Angela Shaw
